Japanese Translation

I am a proficient Japanese reader, writer and speaker, having regularly studied the language since 2009. I graduated with a minor in Japanese language from University of Michigan in 2017, and am currently certified JLPT N1, the highest proficiency level of the world’s most widely-recognized Japanese language certification.

In addition to regularly consuming native Japanese media, I use my Japanese skills daily by running a translation blog focused on one of my favorite hobbies, Japanese arcade games, which I have updated daily since 2020. Daily scans and translations can be viewed at any of the below social media platforms:

Article Translation

Since 2020, I have translated dozens of articles and interviews from my own collection of Japanese press material. Though generally focused on Japanese arcade games, the actual content ranges from the creative to the technical, spanning over 30 years of material.

Manga Translation

Every Sunday since 2021, I scan, clean up, and translate a short comic from my collection. In addition to utilizing my Japanese skills, this has also given me an opportunity to improve at photo editing and designing layouts.

Creative Writing Translation

In addition to more academic material, I also enjoy translating creative writing, like short stories or novels. These are also occasionally uploaded to my blog.

Video Game Localization

Occasionally, I will record footage of games exclusively released in Japanese, and add full English subtitles so that they may be enjoyed by a wider audience.

I also oversee the Japanese localization of my own developed video games, which can be read about here.
